SEPA plaćanja

CUSTOMER INFORMATION

Since when are SEPA transactions implemented?

SEPA transactions are applied from May 4, 2026, in accordance with the defined order processing deadlines.

Does the introduction of the SEPA payment scheme stop the use of SWIFT?

No. The SWIFT system is still used for payments to countries that are not part of the SEPA area, as well as for transactions in currencies other than the Euro (EUR) and if a cost option other than SHAR is selected.

Which countries belong to the SEPA area?

The SEPA area includes all the countries of the European Union and the EEA, as well as some countries outside this framework, including Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Andorra, San Marino, the Vatican, Albania and Montenegro. It is important to note that not every bank from the mentioned countries is an automatic participant of the SEPA payment scheme. An updated list of participants is available on the website of the European Payments Council (EPC).

What information is required for the implementation of SEPA payments?

For SEPA payment, the client needs to provide the following information:

  • IBAN of the recipient,
  • BIC of the recipient’s bank,
  • the name and address of the recipient.

Can the client choose whether the transaction will be implemented as SEPA or SWIFT?

No. Transactions in euros to countries belonging to the SEPA area are carried out within the SEPA system, while SWIFT is used for other countries and currencies.

When is the SEPA transaction realized?

SEPA transactions are executed no later than the next business day, depending on the time of order entry, in accordance with the Term Plan, which you can see here.

What happens if the client enters the wrong IBAN?

In case of incorrectly entered IBAN, the bank is not responsible for the transaction. Clients are advised to check all information carefully before confirming the order.

Why is IBAN mandatory?

IBAN is an international bank account number that enables secure and automatic transfer of funds to the recipient’s account.
In SEPA transactions, it is mandatory because it allows the bank to automatically recognize the country, bank and account.

What are the client's obligations after the inflow of SEPA funds?

Upon receipt of SEPA funds, the amount is automatically credited to the client’s account. The client who received the funds is obliged to submit to the bank on the same or the next working day information on the basis of the payment as well as the document according to which the payment is made. In case the documentation is not submitted, the bank acts in accordance with the applicable regulations.

In which cases the SEPA order cannot be executed?

A SEPA transaction will not be possible if:

  • payment is not in EUR currency,
  • a cost option other than SHA is selected,
  • the recipient’s bank is not a participant of the SEPA SCT scheme,
  • The IBAN does not belong to a country belonging to the SEPA area.
